Möbius Cycle – International recycling symbol Recyclable (symbol on the left) or recycled (symbol on the right) materials. In the second case, the triangle appears with a percentage inside it, which indicates the amount of recycled material present in the packaging. When encountering the Möbius cycle symbol, the consumer must pay attention to throw the packs in the appropriate containers for the separate collection of household waste.

Green Dot – Punto Verde It is used by most European countries to ensure producer responsibility and efficient management of the packaging recovery and recycling system. It is therefore not a symbol that indicates the recyclability of the product. It simply indicates that the manufacturer has paid a fee to a qualified recycling organisation. In Italy, CONAI, i.e. the National Packaging Consortium which manages the recovery and recycling of packaging waste, has not signed a license for the "Green Point", therefore the Italian manufacturing companies in the CONAI consortium cannot affix this mark on the packaging. For more information, we advise you to read the CONAI information on the Green Dot.

Chasing Arrows Within the Möbius cycle (but also within a hexagon or a triangle), specific numerical identification codes for recycling can be found, associated with different types of material (plastic, paper, metal, wood, fabrics). Usually, the numerical codes are accompanied by acronyms that allow the consumer to more easily recognize the type of materials. For example, codes 1 to 7 are used to indicate polyethylene terephthalate (PET), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) and high plastic materials (Other). When these codes are found, it is necessary to dispose of the product in the appropriate plastic container.

Other abbreviations or numerical codes that can be placed on the packages refer to the paper. If codes 20 to 22 are found, the packaging is recoverable. In fact, the small triangle 20 with the abbreviation PAP refers to corrugated cardboard (boxes and packaging). The PAP 21 symbol, on the other hand, indicates non-corrugated cardboard (food packaging). PAP 22 indicates plain paper (paper bags, newsprint, food paper). |
